چکیده
I n t e r v e n t i o n Patient–caregiver dyads were allocated to the Reducing Disability in Alzheimer Disease (RDAD) program (n = 76) or routine medical care (n = 77). Patients and caregivers in the RDAD program received 12 one-hour sessions over 3 months. Patients were given aerobic, endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility training with the goal of ≥ 30 min/d of exercise. Caregivers were taught behavioral management techniques.

Exercise plus behavioral management in patients with Alzheimer disease: a randomized controlled trial.
CONTEXT Exercise training for patients with Alzheimer disease combined with teaching caregivers how to manage behavioral problems may help decrease the frailty and behavioral impairment that are often prevalent in patients with Alzheimer disease. OBJECTIVE To determine whether a home-based exercise program combined with caregiver training in behavioral management techniques would reduce funct...
متن کاملEffects of exercise on spatial memory deficits induced by nucleus basalis magnocellularis lesions
Introduction: Previous studies have shown that exercise enhances cognitive and functional capacities in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we investigated the effect of long-term (60 days) and short- term (10 days) exercise on the spatial memory deficits in an animal model of AD. Methods: Fifty male rats were divided into 5 groups 1) intact, 2) sham, 3) sham-Alzheimer 4) ...
متن کاملP97: Physical Exercise as an Effective Factor in Alzheimer Disease
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental activities. Scientists have found that remaining relatively active can lead to better brain activities in those at risk of developing AD. In some Meta-analyses of prospective investigations, a significantly reduced risk of dementia related to midlife exercise have been proven. Most studies have bee...
متن کاملThe Effect of Swimming Endurance Exercise on Cell Death and Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Gene Expression in Brain of Rat: An Experimental Study of Alzheimer's Disease Model
Background and Objectives: Alzheimerchr('39')s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease which is marked by impaired cholinergic function and decreased nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChRs) density. nAChRs are important mediators of cholinergic signaling in modulation of learning and memory function. In Alzheimer hippocampus is particularly vulnerable to specific degenerative processes an...
